HARVESTING AEC DATA FOR A DIGITAL TWIN TO AI PORTFOLIO

Building owners who wish to save time and money need to understand the power of a Digital Twin. This system of systems is the future for managing buildings, rooms and assets within any facility. The foundation of this system should be a MAP locating each room, each asset, and the corresponding room and asset data. This normalized data structure should not be limited to a single application but instead, be an open architecture to be linked to a variety of platforms for FM, GIS and CMMS needs.

Kimon Onuma and I have been lecturing together at facility tradeshows these last 10 months on the power of Harvesting AEC Data for a Digital Twin Portfolio. The video above outlines this workflow. The first 3-minutes detail Why and For Whom digital twins are so useful.

COLLECTUS® PROVIDES DATA RICH BIMS FOR FACILITY OWNERS WHO WANT TO HARVEST BIM DATA AT HANDOVER FOR THEIR DIGITAL TWIN NEEDS

Collectus is a comprehensive BIM (Building Information Modeling) solution that aims to address the challenges faced by facility owners in harvesting and utilizing room and asset data from AEC (Architectural, Engineering, and Contractor) BIM models for their Digital Twin, post construction needs. It offers a turnkey solution by providing a BIM library and an integrated BIM Execution Plan (BEP) that ensures consistent and predictable data structure across all trades.

The key features and benefits of Collectus include:

1. Complete BIM library and integrated BEP: Collectus provides a vast library of 36,000 imperial and metric components, along with a BEP that guides AEC BIM teams in creating BIM project deliverables. This eliminates the need for facility owners to manage their own Revit BIM standards.

2. Validation of AEC Revit models: Collectus allows facility owners to review and validate AEC Revit models for compliance with the BEP, without requiring advanced BIM knowledge or experience. This ensures that the BIM data structure aligns with the facility owner's requirements.

3. CSI classifications translator: Collectus includes a translator that converts MasterFormat classifications to UniFormat and OmniClass with a single click. This simplifies the process of integrating the BIM data with FM and GIS programs.

4. Accessibility for AEC BIM teams: The full Collectus library and BEP are made available to all AEC BIM teams at no additional cost. This ensures that the BIM data generated by the AEC consultants aligns with the facility owner's needs.

By providing a consistent parameter data structure and a clear workflow, Collectus enables facility owners to effectively Harvest BIM data for facility management, space management, asset management, and indoor GIS needs. It streamlines the transition from BIM to FM and GIS, ultimately improving the operations and maintenance of the completed project.
